The Sales Funnel For Effective Online Marketing

Apr 26

The sales funnel is a fundamental part of business and marketing for many years. However lately it seems to me that the topic of using funnels in Internet business is popping up everywhere on the web.

It is evident that many want to know more about this concept and the ways they can apply it in their online businesses marketing efforts. If you'd like to learn more about the sales funnel to help you with effective Internet marketing I invite you to read on.

What is the Sales Funnel?

A marketing funnel does not necessarily mean the concept of a funnel. The use of the word "funnel" for this concept of marketing is to aid in visualizing and explaining the sales process from beginning to the conclusion. The term funnel is a term utilized to define the sales process due to its more extensive entry point to "Unqualified Prospects", and an opening that is smaller for conversions at the bottom.

The people that are "unqualified prospects" will be found at the upper end of the funnel. These are those who have not spoken to you but may be interested in your product or services. After a series of phone calls, sales and promotions, you have reached people who have bought your product or services.

The effectiveness of the lead generation funnel is from the fact that it allows you to monitor the potential buyers' behavior during different stages of the extended sales process. By using the sales funnel to measure the amount of qualified prospects at every stage, you can predict the number of potential customers who are likely to become customers.

A sales funnel can aid you in determining the areas where your sales strategy fails or succeeds or if your marketing campaign is not getting enough customers. This will allow you to decide where you should concentrate your efforts and to keep sales at a necessary level and, in turn, fulfill marketing goals. It is used to gauge and manage the customers sales process.

The Sales Funnel Top - Front - End

Your sales funnel's top is your most active and most crucial part of your sales process. It requires constant testing. Your imagination and resources will only limit the number of front-end strategies you can create.

The primary goal of the front-end is to attract prospective customers and turn those buyers into buyers further through the sales funnel.

When a prospect opts in or subscribes to the product or service you provide, they are "qualified". This is the point in the sales funnel where the prospective customer or "Unqualified prospect" becomes a qualified leads due to the actions they've taken which show they are interested enough to buy your product.

For your front-end to be effective you must be able to drive specific traffic to your site blog, website, or squeeze page. PPC advertisements articles, banners, article marketing, PPC advertisements, social media (Google+ Twitter Facebook YouTube), YouTube banners, blog posting, forum posting and many other sources are among the most efficient techniques and sources.

There are a variety of ways to "qualify" an "unqualified prospect. One of the more efficient methods is to use an online squeeze page, that allows you to offer something of value pertinent to your product or service which people can receive at no cost or at a drastically reduced price for the exchange of their email address and name. You can select from reports and newsletters and videos and e-mail courses.

This indicates that customers are attracted towards your sales channels on the front end. What about the reverse-end of your sales funnel?

The Bottom of The Funnel: The Back-End

The bottom or back end of the funnel where the main sales and profits are generated. You will usually find the more expensive products in this area. Basically these would be relevant to the same niche but delivered in different formats, such as video, audio, live interaction or private consultation.

The primary difference between the front-end and the back-end is regarding the kind of customer as well as the price of the service or product that is being provided.

It's true that only a small percent, say 1-2% of the overall number of folks who enter your front end, will be at the back end. Since a small portion of people spend more money, it's okay.

It is clear that although front-end products or services can be priced under $100, back end products and/or services are often priced in the 100s to 1000s. This means that the bottom of the funnel, or back-end, the main source for income for your Internet company. It is also the most reliable and stable area in the process of selling.

As I said earlier, the sales funnel is as flexible as your imagination and resources allow.
